Mappa Anatolicorum
A student-initiated digital humanities project exploring the social fabric of medieval Anatolian society through innovative data mining and visualization techniques.
About the Project
Starting its journey in March 2023, Mappa Anatolicorum aims to provide an extensive, well-structured database indexing the ordinary people, primary sources, and settlements of Late Medieval Anatolia.
Reconstructing Ordinary Life
Our project focuses on reconstructing the ordinary life of people in Late Medieval Anatolia by data mining primary sources. We create interactive GIS maps and social network analysis tools to understand the complex relationships and daily experiences of medieval Anatolian society.
Using advanced digital humanities methodologies, we analyze historical documents, court records, and administrative texts to extract meaningful patterns about social structures, economic relationships, and cultural practices in medieval Anatolia.
